Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Location: Essex

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the factory premises, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with department managers and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
  • Provide training and educational programs on health and safety practices to ensure all employees are properly informed and equipped to perform their duties safely.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities, including incident reports, training records, and safety data sheets.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in health and safety management, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or related field.
  • CARES certification (would be advantageous)
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and assess potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully implementing and managing health and safety programs.
